Hello Reader,
I never expected to be a person navigating life after a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Before the accident, I was moving through life with momentum — defined by my intellect, work ethic, and emotional intuition. But one spring morning, everything changed. A bike accident led to a concussion, which later revealed itself to be a more complex and long-term brain injury. That day became the dividing line: before and after.
At first, everything looked normal from the outside. But on the inside, I was in a fog. My memory, speech, processing, and even my personality felt altered. It was confusing, frustrating, and deeply isolating. People around me didn’t always understand. I barely understood. Recovery wasn’t just about resting my brain — it became a full-body, full-soul process of reorienting who I was and what I needed.
I created More Than a Mind as both a podcast and a digital sanctuary — a space where we can slow down, reflect, and talk honestly about what it means to live, grieve, and grow after brain injury. It’s for the survivors, the supporters, and the curious souls who want to understand the unseen.
Yours Truly,
Cathy, More Than A Mind Podcast Hostess
